How do I turn off someone's video and mute or lower their mic?

Jump to: Web, Mobile (Android, iOS)

Room owners can turn off everyone in the chat's A/V by turning off video chat for the room. But to turn off a specific users' microphone and camera, follow the instructions below.

Web

Microphone

Hover over someone’s avatar or video feed. The microphone icon 🎙 controls that user's microphone volume.

Clicking this icon will turn the microphone on and off. When the icon is orange, the mic is turned ON. When the icon is grey, the mic is OFF. If the icon is faded grey, the user is not currently using their audio.

You can also adjust the volume by dragging the bar next to the sound icon back and forth.

Muting and unmuting specific users' A/V on mobile is just like on the Web:

  1. Tab on the user's chat bubble
  2. In the menu that appears, select Turn off Audio or Turn off Video
  3. Tap away from the menu to close it

Note: These menu options will only appear if the user has their A/V on.
